Dr. Jessica Young grew up in Eastern Iowa raising and showing Quarter Horses. She knew at a young age that she wanted to be an equine veterinarian and started working at her local equine clinic during the summer when she was 16-years old. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in May of 2000 with a degree in Molecular Biology. She fulfilled her dream of becoming an equine veterinarian when she graduated With Distinction from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2004.
Dr. Young and her husband, Scott, moved to Scottsdale, Arizona following graduation where she completed a 1-year Equine Internship at Southwest Equine Medical and Surgical Center. There Dr. Young received additional training in equine medicine and surgery and assisted with numerous colic, soft tissue, and orthopedic surgeries. Dr. Young returned home and joined Abraham's Equine Clinic in July of 2005 as an Associate Equine Veterinarian where she practiced for 4-years. In June of 2009, Dr. Young became a part of the Equine Medicine Team at the Iowa State University Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center where she did a 1-year Clinical Fellowship in Equine Internal Medicine. At Iowa State, Dr. Young worked on the clinic floor with 4th year veterinary students and received advanced training and diagnostic skills in Equine Internal Medicine. In 2010, Dr. Young fulfilled a second dream when she founded Diamond Y Equine Veterinary Services, LLC, a progressive mobile equine veterinary practice.
Dr. Young currently lives in Ogden, Iowa with her husband, Scott and their sons, Colton and Chase. In her spare time, Dr. Young enjoys spending time with her family, working on their acreage, camping and trail riding. Her husband Scott is the AMS Manager for VanWall Group in Perry, Iowa.
